…..Luminous lagoon glows an eery green when disturbed. The glow is due to the presence of micro-organisms that produce photochemical reactions like fireflies. The concentration is so thick that fish swimming by look like green lanterns… … That night on the news, they kept showing her body. I didn’t go to the funeral. A lot of people did, though. A lot of outsiders. Not because they were appalled by what had happened or were sorry, no they went to seethe body and to see what Diane looked like after the rape and the murder.
